Beer and coffee, and autumn rain. Pure Northwest.

At Brew Station in Corvallis, at 23rd and Monroe on the OSU campus, beer and coffee are an everyday specialty. On October 25 the campus eatery hosted its weekly "Brew Tour" event, the last until spring. Brew Station hosts the northwest microbrew tour every Thursday evening in spring and fall with focus on northwest beers.

The cafe serves a multitude of northwest microbrews, "but is not a bar," says owner Roger Wylie, who along with family has operated the Brew Station since June 2008. Stumptown Coffee is Brew Station's house coffee, another northwest touch(Portland). Brew Station offers espresso, and barista drinks as well. The college hangout serves standard college fare, burgers and sandwiches(and now pizza), and is open from 7am to 9pm weekdays, 8am to 9pm Saturdays, and 9am to 7pm Sundays. Brew Station also caters, generally for small indoor occasions.

The family run business has a rotating beer selection and the list is updated online daily. "We try to keep the northwest a focus," said Wylie, adding that last week's Brew Tour with Northern California brewer Lagunita's drew almost 400 patrons. The sponsor on Thursday October 25 was Sierra Nevada and Brew Station was a packed house.

Inside the cozy, wooden, and full Brew Station, the air flowed with chatter and delicious scents of dinner. The line stretched to the entry, but moved quickly.

Patrons filled the outdoor seating on a fine Oregon fall afternoon and sipped Sierra Nevada samples and listened to a local 3 piece Americana band. A young passerby named Dan, said "I wish I was 21," noticing the free samples.

A diverse group was present, including professors and students, as well as neighborhood residents and beer aficionados.

When the Brew Tour is running, Brew Station is usually packed, and an all too busy waitress said, "Even when we are not hosting an event, we are busy." The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and good craft beer are in the customer numbers.
